After we finished our kitchen remodel in 2009, we decided to try our hand at a custom kitchen table. The new cabinets were made of cherry, so that’s we used for the table too. It took about 3 months, and we have been very happy with the results.
The frame is made with mortise and tenon joinery.
The table top is made of solid cherry. Here’s the glue up of the top.
Cutting the bevel on the top using a skil saw.
Sanding the final assembling in preparation for the finish. We used several coats of “Emmet’s Good Stuff”, followed by two coats on the top of Semi-gloss polyurethane for extra protection. It’s held up really well for the past 5 years.
