Build Session 13

December 6, 2014

We took last week off because of Thanksgiving, but that didn’t hurt our momentum.

Joseph and Ed worked on designing the feet used with the penumatic legs.

Meanwhile, Cole honed his welding technique by assembling various parts of the armature for the pneumatic legs.

Gabriel worked on modifying the layout of the control board that he and Cole finished last time.

The Hall Effect sensors haven’t been super reliable because the magnets need to be strong and nearby for them to register a significant voltage difference. One way to make them more reliable would be to use several, but that started to seem more complicated than we’d like, so next we’re going to try doing position sensing using a sliding potentiometer like those found on a sound mixing board.

Gabriel, Connor, Sammy, and Dr. P also worked on bolting the uprights of the frame to the base.
Drilling the holes through which the uprights are bolted to the frame.

We ran out of bolts, so Sammy and Connor did a run to OSH. What better place to write your shopping list than on your hand?

A short break for lunch (provided by Scott).

Once the bolts were in place we started working on attaching the top bar and supports.

The near complete frame. Seems to support weight pretty well.

Left to do on the frame: drill bolt holes for the top bar and supports, attach the casters, and paint.
