The Scorpion Exosuit made is Maker Faire debut on September 13th at the Greenbrae Mini Maker Fair. We were thrilled to get this opportunity to showcase our current progress and develop our presentation skills. The Faire gave us a chance to showcase our current prototype, as well as demo the armature to the public.
The suit arrived at the Bon Aire shopping center at 8:30 while the rest of the team trickled in over the next half hour. Our booth was at the corner of two intersections, making it a wildly popular spot. We had two main prototypes to show off that day: A powered pneumatic arm and the full skeletal armature.
The armature showcased the joints and function on a human body and also gave attendees a chance to preview what one would actually wear.
The powered arm display on the other hand gave Maker Faire attendees an opportunity to try a prototype arm on for size.
Our six team members took turns demonstrating the exosuit. Cole and Ed started off the day presenting. Meanwhile, the rest of the team stood by to answer questions. Eventually, Joseph and Thelonious swapped out out for Cold and Ed and Connor and Gabriel took the final shift.
Eventually, the Faire had to end and the guests had all gone home. The time had some for the team to close up shop and head home themselves. The air compressor, as well as posters and prototypes all needed to be packed up and brought back to the van for transport. It had been a long, successful day of work. The team provided an early look at what the final suit could look like and gave people something to look forward to. Below is a photo of Ed, Joseph and Thelonious taking down the suit:
We hope to see you at Maker Faire 2015 for the public unveiling and demonstration of the Scorpion Exosiut.
